Yelp is a wonderful phenomenon if you've got great reviews. Unfortunately, competitors and angry people very often use Yelp as a weapon.
Often, people are motivated by anger to post reviews. They may have actually had a negative experience, or maybe they're just having a really bad day. Either way, if your business is on the business end of a one-star review, you're probably going to lose customers and revenues because of Yelp. We've run into issues where competitors have created fake Yelp accounts (or the real ones of their employees) and posted unfounded negatives against other companies.
The fact is, no one can 'fix' Yelp reviews, they'll most likely stay up for years. We don't edit others reviews, and we don't post fake (shill) reviews. But we do help true, positive reviews find their way online so that prospective customers can get a more balanced view of Yelp reviews.
It is important to remember though, that should we 'fix' a Yelp review problem, truly bad service, shoddy products, or other problems will most likely help more negatives find their way online. We've heard of companies that simply folded, or changed their company names and contact information because of bad reviews in order to simply have a chance at a fresh start.
Don't get us wrong, we love Yelp for the most part. We use it all the time for ourselves. But we know what bad reviews can do - we hear the anguish in small business owners voices nearly every day. If you're a victim of bad Yelp reviews, contact us using the form on the right. If we can help, we'll let you know. If we can't, we'll also let you know - honestly.
